„Pornea” (2009)

"Pornea" is a deeply symbolic pornographic movie aimed at evoking both sexual excitement and mystic experience, as well as aesthetic experience. Due to its allusive and fully computer-generated form, the project falls beyond the scope of contemporary censorship mechanisms.

The impact of pornography on its recipients has been the subject of many heated social discussions ever since its very beginning. The notion itself changed in line with the direction the moral patterns evolved. In the Western culture, pornography was generally considered shameful; nevertheless, it was omnipresent.
For instance, "Ulysses", the famous novel by J. Joyce, used to be confiscated by censors (early 20th century), while nowadays it is considered one of the most important events in 20th century literature.

According to the Catholic Church, pornography ignores the broader context of life; moreover, it is a threat to psychological and social development of young people, including their preparation for marriage and forming a happy family.

The catechism of the Catholic Church stipulates that pornography "...is a disgrace to marital act, mutual intimate gift of spouses. It seriously breaches the dignity of those who are involved in it (actors, salespeople, publicity), since the former become an object of primitive pleasure and illegal gain for the latter. (...) Pornography is a great fault" [Wikipedia (PL)].

As a matter of fact, culturally unconditional expression of sexuality forms part of our lives. However, this potentially deep and mystic phenomenon becomes shallow in situations when it is triggered by mechanisms driven by consumptive need for instant gratification.

The Pornea project includes materials subliminally stimulating the recipient (content active both by means of sound and view).

„Pornea“ jest głęboko symbolicznym filmem o charakterze pornograficznym, którego celem jest wywołanie u odbiorcy zarówno pobudzenia seksualnego jak i przeżycia mistycznego oraz wrażenia estetycznego. Przez swoją aluzyjną i w pełni wygenerowaną w komputerze formę projekt wymyka się mechanizmom współczesnej cenzury.

Wpływ pornografii na jej odbiorców jest przedmiotem burzliwych dyskusji w społeczeństwie już od czasów jej powstania. Samo pojęcie ulegało zmianie w zależności od ewolucji wzorców obyczajowych. W kulturze zachodniej z reguły była wstydliwa, ale zawsze obecna.
Przykładowo głośna powieść J. Joyca „Ulisses“ bywała konfiskowana przez cenzurę (pocz. XXw) obecnie zaś jest uznawana za jedno z naj-ważniejszych wydarzeń w  prozie XXw.

Według Kościoła Katolickiego pornografia pomija szerszy kontekst życia ponadto jest zagrożeniem w rozwoju psychospołecznym młodzieży, również w przygotowaniu ich do zawarcia małżeństwa i założenia szczęśliwej rodziny.

Katechizm Kościoła Katolickiego mówi, iż pornografia "... stanowi wynaturzenie aktu małżeńskiego, wzajemnego intymnego daru małżonków. Narusza poważnie godność tych, którzy jej się oddają (aktorzy, sprzedawcy, publiczność), ponieważ jedni stają się dla drugich przedmiotem prymitywnej przyjemności lub źródłem niedozwolonego zarobku. (...) Pornografia jest ciężką winą"[Wikipedia].

W rzeczywistości nieuwarunkowana kulturowo ekspresja seksualności jest częścią naszego życia. To potencjalnie głębokie i mistyczne zjawisko ulega spłaszczeniu wpadając w mechanizmy napędzane konsumpcyjną potrzebą natychmiastowej gratyfikacji.

Biography

Roch Forowicz was born in 1978 in Warsaw, Poland. In 2005, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Studio of Multimedia Artistic Creation at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. Since 2007, he has been working as an assistant at the Inter-University Studio of Multimedia Artistic Creation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Organising Upgrade!Warsaw since 2007. Curator and co-founder of 2.0 gallery in Warsaw. Participant of many expositions and festivals, such as FILE festival (BR), HAIP Festival (SI), Liwoli09 (AT), Paraflows 09 (AT), Urban Research (DE), Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej - Zamek Ujazdowski (PL), Komuna Otwock, Entropia, STUDIO, WEF, Krytyka Polityczna etc.

Through his artistic activity, Roch Forowicz refers to the ‘city surveillance’ culture – constant supervision by means of CCTV and data processing and filing software and devices.His activity is radical, often characterised by illegal ‘hacktivist’ interventions, consisting in intercepting and using technological devices against their creators’ will.
